Baken-Schnitte

Baken (Seezeichen) an den Insel-Spitzen sind Ausgangspunkt für die Serie Baken-Schnitte.
Digitale Zeichnungen von Grundformen der Baken-Köpfe werden als Vorlagen für das Lasern von Acrylformen angelegt. Diese dienen als Druckstöcke für den Hochdruck. In mehreren Druckvorgängen mit den Farben Schwarz und Silber entsteht durch die unterschiedliche Kombination der Formen eine reduzierte und zugleich variantenreiche Werkreihe.

Navaids (Baken) at the tips of the islands are the starting point for the Baken-Schnitte (Cutouts).
Digital drawings of their basic shapes serve as templates for the lasering of acrylic shapes. The acrylic shapes serve as printing blocks. In several printing processes with the colors black and silver, the different combination of forms results in a reduced and at the same time varied series of works.

Wanzen-Schnitte

Mit Papierschnitten – inspiriert von Wanzenrücken –widme ich mich der Vielfalt und Formschönheit des Wanzenvorkommens (es gibt weltweit rund 40.000 Arten). Wanzen sind mit Duftdrüsen ausgerüstet, deren Sekret sie zu Verteidigungs- und Kommunikations-Zwecken versprühen: mitunter giftig oder stinkend, aber auch nach Apfel, Birne, Marzipan, Zimt oder Vanille duftend.

With paper cuts, inspired by the backs of bugs, I dedicate myself to the diversity and beauty of shape of bugs (there are around 40,000 species worldwide). Bugs are equipped with scent glands, the secretion of which they spray for defense and communication purposes: sometimes poisonous or smelly, but also smelling of apple, pear, marzipan, cinnamon or vanilla.

Der Wallring um die Innenstadt Dortmund ist Vorbild für den spielerischen Umgang mit ebendieser Form – paarweise eingesetzt – in Papierschnitt, überlagert mit Teppichschnitt.

The street ring around the city center of Dortmund is a model for the playful use of this form – used in pairs – in paper cut, superimposed with carpet cut.
